The Hunt for the Magic Pearl Provides an Adventure in Literacy and Art

This is exactly what happens when authors and teachers come together to creatively motivate children to think, read, write, and illustrate.

SeaStar and her sisters, Shimmer and StarFire, ventured to Tennessee and made a big splash on the children in Mrs. Tracy Bradshaw's class. Mrs. Bradshaw read The Hunt for the Magic Pearl to them and those wonderful kids took off from there. The children drew vivid images of the mermaid characters thereby capturing their true essence. They also wrote great summaries of their interactions with the story and the colorful images that are contained within the book.

Every child should be exposed to the diversity in children's literature. Every child should learn to enjoy reading books that inform, motivate, and leave a lasting impression on them. I am so pleased that The Hunt for the Magic Pearl is designed to be that kind of children's book.

I cannot thank Mrs. Tracy Bradshaw enough for sharing my words and passion with her students. I believe in the power of magic in books and I want every child to be able to find some degree of magic in the world of children's literature.
