Who am I?
I was that young girl who struggled to learn how to read write, and think! Ah, But not anymore :)

PictureEvery adult should revisit the child within on occasions when life gets a little heavy. Dress up in costume and read a good book with a child :)
Imagination Is:

Imagination is an exciting way to explore and view the world around us. Imagination is the creator of fantasy, and fantasy is the inventor of magic. Magic makes all things possible.

Imagination, fantasy, and magic are found in wonderful children books. Every time I read one of my children's books, I find myself in a magical place filled with all sorts of possibilities. I travel to magical lands and worlds beyond my own. I explore new words, ideas, and concepts. My mind explores with endless revelations on what can be and how far I can go.

As an author, imagination is my keyboard, my ink pen, and my paintbrush. Imagination is my life.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited, but imagination encircles the world.      -Albert Einstein

Mrs. Perry-Church, a devoted wife, proud parent, educator, author, and artist, had dreamed about becoming a writer since she was a young girl.  She is very excited to present to her parent and youth audiences her first two books, The Hunt for the Magic Pearl  and The Peanut Butter Trap: Hate Is Such An Ugly Word.
The goal of writing these books came as a result of teaching challenged 14 to 16 year old youths who were experiencing persistent difficulties in all levels of literacy-- reading, writing, and thinking.
Perry-Church wanted to create fun, entertaining, and informative books that would spark imagination and creativity in youths who had often said to her, "Mrs. Church, I hate to read."
The Hunt for the Magic Pearl  is the first in a planned series that will be filled with colorful illustrations, rich vocabulary, informative, and fun content.   The Peanut Butter Trap: Hate Is Such An Ugly Word is also the first in a series.   Both books are designed to challenge young readers to use their creative thinking skills to evaluate and analyze what they read.
Shirley Perry-Church believes that every child should find mystery, adventure, discovery, exploration, stimulating challenges, and identity during the reading process. She knows that given a chance, every child can learn to read.
She encourages parents to read with their children/youths often--no matter their ages--especially if the child(ren) struggles with reading.  She challenges teachers to incorporate stimulating and motivational books in their classroom libraries.
Mrs. Perry-Church graduated from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Grand Canyon University with a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instructions with an Emphasis on Reading in Secondary Education. She prides herself on being a life-long learner.
